Nooooooooooooo!!!!

August 29, 2007

That is what my heart has been screaming all week long. My babies started school this Monday. It was scary, traumatizing, and horrilbe…but don’t worry, that is just how I felt about it. Gabe and Zoe happen to LOVE going to school so far.

Lets talk about Zoe:

Zoe goes to preschool at the Montesorri school just down the street. (She does not like anyone to call it “preschool” it is just “school”). She goes every day from 8:30 to 11:30. Although these first couple of weeks we are doing a “phase-in” so this week she goes for 1/2 hour, next week 1 hour, next week 1 1/2 hours, etc. until we get up to the 3 hours. Annoying for mom but it is supposed to be good for transitioning the kids. However, I think all of us who know Zoe know that she does not need this phase-in at all, she is preschool ready in every way and was a little unhappy to find out that I got to go with her the first day. She can’t believe she doesn’t get to go all day like her brother Gabe. She has been preparing for this for months now. She asked me to buy her a “rescue dog alarm clock” so that she could be the first one up to get ready for school. She brings her backpack full of school supplies and her lunchbox to school everyday (even though she doesn’t eat lunch at school, she just eats it later at home). Her teacher is Miss Jane and Zoe took right to her. She also took right to the rules of the classroom and lets Miss Jane and the other kids know when someone isn’t following a rule. HeHe…as much as I am sad about Zoe growing up, I can’t say that I am sad about the peaceful mornings I am looking forward to. Zoe could keep a staff of five people busy.

And now for my little Gabe:

Gabe goes to Kindergarten at the same Montesorri school as Zoe. He goes every day from 8:30-3:00. I was so worried about him going to school all day. He is so kind and sensitive, what if someone is mean to him? What if he hates it and wants to come home? What if the teacher loses him on the playground? You know…all the fears that crop up when you reach that Kindergarten milestone. Well, I happened to see Gabe in the middle of the first day when I was picking Zoe up from preschool and he said “No mom, It’s not over yet!” and then to spare my feelings “You can come get me in a little while okay?” Gabe was very excited to find out that they have two recesses. He likes to swing on the swings the best. He also loves their class pet “Samantha” a chameleon.

So once I get over the seperation anxiety I am thinking that school is going to be a good thing for me. I’ve been in need of a little quiet time and sanity for quite a while now. Here are my two cuties…

Back by Popular Demand!

August 29, 2007

Okay…well, it was only one or two people who asked about it and they didn’t “Demand” that I start blogging again per se, but they did ask if I was ever going to do it again. The answer is…Yes! My Blog FINALLY made it to the top of my “to do” list. I’m not going to go through the list of excuses why I haven’t been blogging or even attempt to catch up on the news since the last time I blogged. I will just jump right in with this week. I hope to make it a habit again so check back if you ever get the urge!
