Chicken Lips

May 28, 2007

I always hate thinking of a title for my weekly entries.

Well this week has been a blur of cafe rio, shopping and entertaining the kids. I couldn’t begin to say what I did on what days so I will use some pictures to jog my memory I guess.

Monday or Tuesday we went to Thanksgiving point to attend preschool graduation for Jaxon and Oaklee. My sister Amy was one of their teachers this year. Here are some pics:

Noah has begun to pull himself up on things this week. He has also developed the habit of sleeping with a barbie doll:

Hey,  whatever works to get him down for a nap is good with me. And yes, I know, he is gigantic.

The kids have been spending more time with their cousins this week. We babysat Jaxon and Belle one day and then Tanner, Mason and Oaklee for a couple of days. They also went to Christophers 2 year old birthday party and had so much fun.

We have a couple of weeks left here in Utah and hope to get as much visiting in as possible. Call us if you have the time and want to hang out!

The Eltons minus one

May 20, 2007

I just have to say right off the bat that we really miss Dan. I thought maybe it would take a couple of days before I would start feeling that way but nope…I can hardly stand to live without him.

This week was a good one. We were able to slow down the pace a little bit from last week. I will hit some of the highlights for you.

Tuesday the kids went to Kangaroo Zoo with their cousins Tyler, William, Oaklee and Mason. It is this new place in Pleasant Grove that has all kinds of those huge inflatable bouncy toys with slides. It was expensive, but fun. Sadly, I did not bring my camera.

Thursday I hit the outlets in Park City with my sister Amy. She resented not being inculded in my blog last week and shopping is always a highlight so I thought I’d throw that in.

Friday, my mom hosted a bbq in my honor to celebrate my upcoming birthday. We had it at northridge park. My family came as well as our good friends the Hatches and my cousin Becky and her family. This time I brought my camera but…forgot to take pictures.

Other things we did this week include helping Rhonda plant flowers, letting the kids play outside in the sprinklers, eating at Costa Vida (YUM!) and going to a ward BBQ.

On a side note, I asked Gabe what he missed the most about Pennsylvania. He said that he missed catching spiders. (We had a little spider problem at our house this winter). But after he thought about it for a while after that he said that he really missed his buddy Ethan. Gabe is such a sweetheart.

Okay, so here are some pictures that I did manage to take this week:

Man, we are going to be in trouble with those two!

I hope you all have a good week! Go Jazz!

My Mom

May 13, 2007

scan0001-small.jpg

This is my mom when she was a junior in high school. Wasn’t she beautiful! Not a day goes by that I don’t think about how much I admire her. I always wonder how she survived raising six children as I struggle with my three. Her home is such a pleasant wonderful place, she is always involved in church and her kids schools. She serves others constantly and she never stops going. I compare myself to her often and think that when I “grow up” I want to be like Rhonda in so many ways. I am thankful that I get to be her daughter. I love you mom!

Zoe

My  friend JoCile gave me this picture she had of Zoe. I couldn’t resist posting it. What a difference a couple of years make!

Noah Maxwell Elton

May 13, 2007

Noah is changing so much lately, I thought I would write a little update. Here is a list of things about Noah:

1.  His first tooth popped through this week. We can feel it but he won’t let us look at it so no pictures yet.

2. He scoots everywhere…he has been doing this for about a month, but no crawling yet. At honey’s house he likes to scoot to the dog and pull his tail. The dog has caught on to this so anytime he gets close now the dog runs for safety.

3. He does a lot of babbling now. Mostly “babababa” and “dadadada” He will sometimes copy you when babble at him.

4. He gives big slobbery kisses. He will grab your face with both hands and plant one on you.

5. Still not sleeping through the night…

6. He is sitting up a lot now. This makes me a little sad. He just looks like another one of the big kids now sometimes.

 Here are some pics:

A fun-filled week

May 13, 2007

We did so much this week that I thought I would give the play-by-play. If it gets too boring—just skim through:

Monday: Dan spent the day visiting his friends that he worked with at the hospital. We went to a couple of Mike and Jeff’s softball games in the evening. Then we watched the Jazz spank the Warriors.

Tuesday: We got a lot of visiting done on tuesday. It started with lunch at Grandma Barbara’s and Grandpa Vaughn’s. It was great to spend time with them. Then we headed out to Tooele. We wanted to check it out for the possibilty of living there in the future??? So far, I’m not commiting to anything. We also stopped in and saw Dr. Dave Morril (dan’s friend) in Tooele. Then we headed back to Utah County and dropped in on our good friends the Jacksons. They kindly asked us to stay for dinner even though we were uninvited. For those of you who know JoCile, she is due on May 23rd with another baby girl! That will make 4 for them. It was so good to see them and our kids had a blast with their kids.

Wednesday: We went up to spend the night at Rich and Candice’s cabin in Timberlakes (Heber Area). Their cabin is gorgeous and so fun. We celebrated Gracie’s 6th birthday (Rich and Candice’s youngest) and hung out, visited, watched the Jazz game.  Here are some pics:

Continuing on…

Thursday: We all stayed the night at the cabin, except for Zoe.  She thinks that she lives at Honey’s house now and was crying to go “home.” I’ve tried and tried to explain to her that we are just visiting but I think she will be in for a shock when we get home to Pennsylvania next month. I don’t think she expects to see that place again. Anyway…Thursday we hung out at the cabin with John and his two oldest boys. We stopped by “the property” (some land with a pond that John’s in-laws own in Heber) and took the boys on a 4-wheeler ride. Noah had his first 4 wheeler ride and seemed to really like it. Sadly, I do not have pictures.

Friday: Dan did some more visiting with his work friends. My sister Rachel and I ran all over town doing what has become an obsession for me…coupon shopping (thanks a lot Amanda). My parents took us out to dinner at Los Hermanos because in Erie, Pennsylvania there is a sad sad lack of mexican restaurants. The best part was that my parents had the servers sing happy birthday and bring ice cream to dan even though his birthday was a month ago. We all know how dan loves attention! We won’t even talk about the Jazz game Friday night…

Saturday: We went over to John and Amanda’s for a backyard pool party. Again… my kids had so much fun. Here are the pics:

img_3849-small.jpg

img_3839-small.jpg

img_3862-small.jpg

After the pool party we headed over to Grandma Barbara’s and Grandpa Vaughn’s for a BBQ down in the hollow in the back yard. Grandma Barbara had boomerangs and bubbles for the kids to play with.  We had a good time there.

and here we are on Sunday: Happy Mother’s Day to all the mother’s out there. Buy yourself something nice. I know I did! Dan left us this morning to go back to school in Erie. I already miss him. I had to make emergency plans to fly him back out here for memorial day because I can’t live without him.

Anyway… Sorry this blog entry is a little long and indulgent but I am kind of using it as a family journal too… and hey.. no one is forcing you to read it!

I wanted to say one more thing, thank you so much to everyone who has fed us, entertained us, given us a place to stay while we are here in Utah. We really appreciate it. Especially my mom, her normally immaculate house has been more cluttered then she likes I am sure but she just smiles and puts up with us.

Greetings From Utah!

May 7, 2007

It was a busy week. Dan took three finals this week and passed with flying colors of course! The rest of the week was about packing and tying up loose ends before we left for Utah. We flew out on Friday and everything went smoothly. The Vanchiere housed was packed with a welcome committee and it made it feel so nice to be home.

Saturday the Vanchiere girls went shopping and the boys went to see Spiderman 3. Then we all got together to watch the awesome Jazz game.

Yesterday we had a big birthday bash for Bryce, Tanner and Zoe. Food, Cake, Presents, games…the works. Here are a few pictures of the big celebration:

So it’s good to be back in Utah. We can’t wait to spend time with everyone here. Hope you all are having a good week.

It’s all about Zoe

May 1, 2007

Our little princess turned four this week (April 26th). When she woke up on the morning of her birthday she demanded to know where her cake and presents were and why all of her friends and cousins weren’t there yet. I tried to explain to her that we were having a party on Saturday but she was not happy about it and refused to acknowledge that it was her REAL birthday until she saw the cake a few days later. She has already planned her Utah birthday party too because she was so sad for Honey, Papa, Amy, Bryce, Oaklee. Mason, Jaxon, Belle…etc….etc…etc…were going to miss out on her party.

Zoe had a princess party. She had a few friends over. They dressed up in their pretty princess clothes and we put make-up on them and painted thier nails. A few pictures:

Besides Zoe’s Party we had a pretty typical week: Preschool, dentist appointment, errands, etc. Dan has started taking his finals for his first semester so he was really focused on that this week. Also this week, we went to a BBQ with some other families in our ward who are students too. It was noisy and chaotic and there were kids everywhere. I loved it! That and Zoe’s party were the first times I felt a little bit of what it feels like to be with family in Utah.

Speaking of Utah…we are headed there soon! We are arriving this next Friday (May 4th). Dan will be staying until May 13th and the kids and I will be staying until June 13th. We can’t wait to see you all!

I will leave you with some pictures of our little ballerina at dance class:
